Regular Season Round 33: Castello - Marin 86-93

Bottom-ranked Marin managed to get a eighth victory, breaking the series of three consecutive losses on Friday night. This time newly promoted Marin won against twelfth-ranked Castello in Castellon 93-86. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 37-23 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Marin made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Marin especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. 25 personal fouls committed by Castello helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Tim Derksen (191-94, college: USF) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jason Cain (208-85, college: Virginia) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Joan Faner (176-90) who recorded 20 points and 7 assists and guard Eduardo Duran (190-91, agency: Duran International) added 18 points and 7 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Marin maintains eighteenth place with 8-25 record. Castello at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 20 games lost. They share it with Caceres. Marin are looking forward to face league's leader Gipuzkoa in San Sebastian in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Castello will play on the road against Palma (#9) in S'Arenal and is hoping to win this game.
