Second Stage Round 12: Basket Esch - Racing 76-79

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Basket Esch (17-12) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were edged by Racing (26-3) 79-76. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Basket Esch. Racing dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Basket Esch's 18. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Scott Morton (195-87, college: Geneseo St.) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Louis Soragna (183-94) who added 19 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Bill Clark (196-88, college: Duquesne) with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international power forward Alexandre Rodenbourg (202-91) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Racing maintains first position with 26-3 record which they share with defeated Basket Esch. Basket Esch at the other side still keeps top place with 12 games lost. Racing are looking forward to face Arantia (#3) in Larochette in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Basket Esch will play on the road against BC Mess in Mondercange and is hoping to win this game.
