Regular Season Round 46: Boca Jrs - Echague 91-89

Date: April 22, 2017
There was a small surprise in Buenos Aires where tenth ranked Boca Juniors (17-33) edged 10th ranked Echague (8-42) 91-89 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 91-89. Boca Juniors made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Greek Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Nicolas Gianella (186-78) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws). American swingman Devin Green (201-82, college: Hampton) produced 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Panamanian forward Josimar Ayarza (205-87, college: S.Mississippi) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Echague's coach Ivan Najnudel tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Boca Juniors have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain tenth position with 17-33 record which they share with defeated Echague. Echague lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth place with 42 games lost. Boca Juniors will face league's leader San Martin Corrientes on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
