Regular Season Round 28: Arenys - Mataro 67-68

There was an upset when higher ranked Arenys (13-12) was edged by thirteenth ranked Mataro (10-15) in Arenys del Mar 68-67 on Saturday. Arenys was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a very good performance for Dominican power forward Jose Cabrera (206-84) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds. David Romero (-90) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Mataro players scored in double figures. Bahamas power forward Christopher Turnquest (203-83, college: Miles CC) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Omar Toure (199-94) added 6 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Arenys. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mataro moved-up to twelfth place in Group C-A, which they share with Barna. Loser Arenys dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. Mataro will face higher ranked Menorca (#3) in Mahon in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
