Regular Season Round 6: Sydney C. - Norths Bears 47-80

There was no surprise in Alexandria where 6th ranked Comets (1-3) were crushed by top-ranked North Bears (3-0) 80-47 on Saturday. North Bears dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Comets' 22. North Bears forced 33 Comets turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Jaimee Kennedy (178-88) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. American guard Kallie Hovatter (175-89, college: Elon) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Four North Bears players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Tatyanna Pogonza-Dumas who recorded 7 points and 6 rebounds and Samantha Hewitt added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. North Bears maintains third position in League with 3-0 record having just two points less than leader Nunawading S. Loser Comets dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. North Bears will face Bruins (#5) in Condell Park in the next round. Comets will play at home against Hills Hornets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
