Regular Season Round 6: Eltham W. - Waverley F. 76-85

There was a small surprise in Eltham where sixth ranked Falcons (3-2) beat one of their biggest challengers Wildcats (3-3) 85-76 on Saturday. They outrebounded Wildcats 47-34 including 20 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Jackie Vanderzaag (184-88) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Kelly Bowen (182-89, college: Gonzaga) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Four Falcons players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Rebecca Cole (178-92) who recorded 27 points, 8 assists and 7 steals and the former international swingman Katrina Hibbert (180-77, college: LSU) added 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Falcons moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Wildcats dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Falcons will face league's second-placed Knox Raiders in Wantirna South in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Wildcats will play at home against Hume City Broncos (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
