Regular Season Round 28: Sitges - Barbera 77-68

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Sitges (7-17) defeated at home higher ranked Barbera (15-10) 77-68 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Barbera won third quarter 15-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sitges made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for guard Pau Carretero (188-91) who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 9 rebounds. Center Xavier Sabate (205-83) contributed with 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Sitges' coach Eduardo Pinero used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Sergio Perez (189-85) replied with 14 points and 6 rebounds and center Hernan Olaguibe (203-86) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Barbera. Newly promoted Sitges maintains twelfth position in Group C-B with 7-17 record. Loser Barbera keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. Sitges will face higher ranked Vive El Masnou (#10) in Barcelona in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Barbera will play at home against Palma II (#7) and hope to win that game.
