Everything went according to plan when third ranked Estudiantes L. (17-8) defeated 5th ranked BVM 2012 (15-9) in Mieres 67-61 on Saturday. The game without a history. Estudiantes L. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a very good performance for guard Roberto Abuin (190-95) who helped to win the game recording 20 points. Ivorian center Seydou Aboubacar (207-94) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Estudiantes L.'s coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brazilian center Dida Pereira (203-92, college: Sequoias CC) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Lucas Hausman (190-93, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) added 14 points in the effort for BVM 2012. Estudiantes L. maintains third position in Group A-B with 17-8 record having four points less than leader Chantada, which they share with Leon. Loser BVM 2012 keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Estudiantes L. will face Leon (#4) at home in the next round. BVM 2012 will play against Ponferrada CDP and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
