Regular Season Round 27: Rustavi - Dinamo Tbilisi 71-96

An interesting game for Dinamo Tbilisi (24-3) which played road game in Rustavi against 3rd placed Energy Invest (13-14). First ranked Dinamo Tbilisi had an easy win 96-71. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Dinamo Tbilisi's pressure prevailed and they won that period 30-12 extending their advantage to 25 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Energy Invest's 28. Dinamo Tbilisi players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It was a great evening for Serbian center Nikola Maravic (212-89, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Mikheil Tchotchua (193-87, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 18 points and 4 assists. Five Dinamo Tbilisi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Maurice Lewis-Briggs (203-90, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Mansfield and Associates) with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import guard Casey Kasperbauer (185, college: S.Dakota) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dinamo Tbilisi maintains first place with 24-3 record. Energy Invest lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the third position with 14 games lost. They share it with Cactus Tbilisi. Dinamo Tbilisi will play against league's second-placed Kutaisi at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Energy Invest will play against Cactus Tbilisi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
