Rather expected game in Tokyo where 3rd ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (28-26) were defeated by first ranked Toshiba Thunders (45-9) 87-80 on Saturday. Toshiba Thunders shot 60.3 percent from the field. Toshiba Thunders outrebounded Hitachi Sunrockers 35-21 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. International point guard Ryusei Shinoyama (178-88) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. International forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) produced 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international forward Yuki Mitsuhara (198-89) added 23 points respectively for the hosts. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Toshiba Thunders maintains first position with 45-9 record. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers keep the third place with 26 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next round. Hitachi Sunrockers will play again at home against the league's leader Toshiba Thunders and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
