Regular Season Round 28: Casvi - Azuqueca 95-100

Date: April 22, 2017
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Casvi (21-7) in Villaviciosa on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Azuqueca (19-9) 100-95. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Casvi. Azuqueca shot 29 for 42 from the free-throw line, while Casvi only scored six points from the stripe. Strangely Casvi outrebounded Azuqueca 39-26 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. 33 personal fouls committed by Casvi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Carlos Calvo (178-94) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 9 assists. American Michael Murray (196-91, college: Coppin St.) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Jose-Miguel Perez (202-96) replied with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 22 rebounds and guard Guim Exposito (197-94) added 12 points and 8 assists in the effort for Casvi. Four Azuqueca and five Casvi players scored in double figures. Casvi's coach Jose Antonio Sanchez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Azuqueca maintains fifth position in Group B with 19-9 record. Casvi at the other side dropped to the third place with seven games lost. They share the position with Real Canoe. Azuqueca are looking forward to face Quintanar (#10) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Casvi will play against the league's leader Real Madrid II (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
