Regular Season Round 8: Lakeside L. - Cockburn C. 78-91

Date: April 22, 2017
No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Cougars (5-3) beat 8th ranked Lightning (3-5) in North Lake 91-78 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for Cougars especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Cougars made 8 blocks. Swingman Gavin Field (202-89, college: W.Georgia) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Jalen Billups (198-92, college: N.Kentucky, agency: Haylett Sports) contributed with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. American forward James Padgett (203-91, college: Maryland) replied with 25 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Devon Atkinson (185, college: Morehead St.) added 12 points and 8 assists in the effort for Lightning. Four Lightning players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cougars moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Lightning dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Cougars will face league's second-placed Redbacks in Northbridge in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lightning will play on the road against Eagles (#6) in Morley and hope to win that game.
