There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Cecina (14-16) defeated at home higher ranked Valsesia (16-14) 71-64 on Saturday. Cecina dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Valsesia's 18. The former international forward Mario Gigena (198-77) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Saverio Mazzantini (194-95, agency: Players Group) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Cecina's coach Giacomo Bandieri allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was forward Giovanni Lenti (196-96) with 6 points and 9 rebounds and guard Mattia Molteni (190-96) scored 11 points.
