Regular Season Round 8: Norths Bears - Sydney Comets 71-95

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Norths Soul Sports Bears (2-5) were outleveled by third ranked Sydney City Comets (5-1) in Crows Nest 95-71 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 24 points. Sydney City Comets dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Norths Soul Sports Bears' 42. Sydney City Comets looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Norths Soul Sports Bears were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized American guard Indiana Faithfull (193-91, college: W.Liberty St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points and 5 assists. Guard Sam Hyman (190, college: Mayville St.) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Sydney City Comets players scored in double figures. Guard Nick Blair (185-87) replied with 18 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Ben Knight (203-76, agency: Interperformances) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Norths Soul Sports Bears. Norths Soul Sports Bears' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Sydney City Comets maintains third position in League with 5-1 record behind leader Geraldton B. Loser Norths Soul Sports Bears dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. Sydney City Comets will face Crusaders (#7) in Terrigal in the next round.
