Regular Season Round 28: Torrelodones - La Roda 70-75

Date: April 22, 2017
Very predictable result when fourth ranked La Roda (20-8) won against 15th ranked Torrelodones (5-21) in Madrid 75-70 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. La Roda shot 23 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Torrelodones only scored six points from the stripe. Strangely Torrelodones outrebounded La Roda 49-30 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Torrelodones was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard DeAngelo Hailey (190-90, college: NW Missouri St.) who helped to win the game recording 22 points. American-Liberian guard Jeremy Williams (185-91, college: New Haven) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Williams is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Center Mamadou Diagne (208-98) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and Serbian center Almir Hadzisehovic (203-92, college: Alaska-Fairb.) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Torrelodones. Torrelodones' coach Dani Gomez gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. La Roda maintains fourth position in Group B with 20-8 record. Loser Torrelodones keeps the fifteenth place with 21 games lost. La Roda will face Estudiantes B (#13) in Madrid in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Torrelodones' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Madrid to the arena Viten Fuen..
