Regular Season Round 58: Kagoshima - Kumamoto V. 71-95

Everything went according to plan in Renova where third ranked Kumamoto V. (42-14) outscored 6th ranked Kagoshima (7-49) 95-71 on Sunday. They outrebounded Kagoshima 43-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. Kumamoto V. looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Kagoshima's players. American power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) scored 27 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Joel James (208-94, college: N.Carolina) chipped in 14 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Canadian forward Bikramjit Gill (201-92, college: Ball St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Ryuichiro Nakazono (190-78) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kagoshima's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Kumamoto V. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 42-14 record having just two point less than leader Shimane SM. Kagoshima lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 49 games lost. Kumamoto V. will face league's second-placed Dragonflies in Hiroshima in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
