Everything went according to plan when third ranked Eltham Wildcats (5-1) defeated bottom-ranked Magic (0-4) in Hawthorn 92-82 on Sunday. Forward Simon Grant (195-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Jordan Canovan contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Joshua Morrison (198-91, college: NC-Wesleyan) replied with 24 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Jack Barry (-94) added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Magic. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Eltham Wildcats moved-up to second place in League. Loser Magic still closes the standings with four games lost. Eltham Wildcats will face Devils (#6) in Werribee in the next round. Magic will play at home against Whittlesea City (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
