Regular Season Round 6: Sunbury - Warrandyte V. 94-43

Date: April 23, 2017
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Sunbury as it allowed them to take a leadership position in League. Sunbury smashed 8th ranked Venom at home 94-43. The game without a history. Sunbury led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Venom's 28. Sunbury forced 22 Venom turnovers. It was a good game for Karen Duever who led her team to a victory with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Monique Stevens (160-91, college: NW Missouri St.) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Sunbury players scored in double figures. Naturalized Italian guard Nicole Romeo (168-89, college: Washington) replied with 12 points and Margaret Kershaw added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Venom. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Venom at the other side dropped to the tenth place with four games lost. Venom will play next round against Cougars trying to get back on the winning streak. Sunbury will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Hume City Broncos at Tullamarine.
