Regular Season Round 8: Waverley F. - Diamond V.E. 62-56
Date: April 23, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (1-6) lost to fourth ranked Waverley Falcons (4-2) in Mount Waverley 56-62 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Waverley Falcons forced 19 Diamond Valley Eagles turnovers. American forward Brandon Beasley (196-88, college: William Penn) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import forward Desmond Simmons (198-92, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Beasley is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Brandon Conley (198, college: ORU) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and guard Matt Reynolds (183) added 11 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Diamond Valley Eagles. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Waverley Falcons maintains fourth position in League with 4-2 record. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles keep the tenth place with six games lost. Waverley Falcons will face league's leader Knox Raiders in Wantirna South in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Diamond Valley Eagles will play at home against Ringwood Hawks (#3) and hope to win that game.
