Regular Season Round 57: Chiba Jets - Sendai 89ers 102-61

Date: April 23, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Sendai 89ers (13-42) were outscored on the road by third ranked Chiba Jets (39-16) 102-61 on Sunday. Chiba Jets made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). His fellow American import Tyler Stone (203-91, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Diamond Sports) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. American Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds and forward Takayuki Kumagai (190-85) added 14 points in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chiba Jets have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 39-16 record having six points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Sendai 89ers lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 42 games lost. Chiba Jets will face league's leader Tochigi Brex on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sendai 89ers will play against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark (#2) and hope to win that game.
