Regular Season Round 8: W.Adelaide B. - Sturt S. 86-83

A very close game took place in Woodville between West Adelaide Bearcats and Sturt Sabres. Ninth ranked West Adelaide Bearcats (2-2) got a very close home victory over second-ranked Sturt Sabres (2-2). West Adelaide Bearcats managed to escape with a 3-point win 86-83 on Tuesday evening. West Adelaide Bearcats outrebounded Sturt Sabres 45-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American guard Dee Oldham (193-94, college: Chattanooga) who scored that evening 24 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Harold Ridgeway (203, college: Midland) supported him with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Even 29 points and 7 rebounds by guard Isaac White (187-98) did not help to save the game for Sturt Sabres. Guard Hamish Burns (190, college: Newberry) added 17 points for the guests. Four Sturt Sabres players scored in double figures. Sturt Sabres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. West Adelaide Bearcats moved-up to sixth place in League. West Adelaide Bearcats will meet higher ranked Noarlunga City Southern Tigers (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sturt Sabres will play against Eastern Mavericks in Mt. Barker and hope to secure a win.
