Regular Season Round 29: Chalons-Reims - Cholet 71-76

No shocking result in a game when fourteenth ranked Cholet Basket (11-18) beat on the road 16th ranked Chalons-Reims (9-20) 76-71. It looked good early as Chalons-Reims took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Cholet Basket had a 22-18 second period charge getting the lead and Chalons-Reims was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-76. Cholet Basket players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The former international point guard Jonathan Rousselle (187-90) stepped up and scored 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and American-Dominican M.J. Rhett (206-92, college: Mississippi) chipped in 13 points. Four Cholet Basket players scored in double figures. American swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI, agency: Two Points) responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds and Dutch center Nicolas de-Jong (210-88) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Cholet Basket moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Le Mans. Chalons-Reims lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. They share it with Antibes. Cholet Basket will play against higher ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#9) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chalons-Reims will play against Entente Orleans 45 (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
