Regular Season Round 18: Tijuana - Mazatlan 70-75

The most important game in the last round took place in Tijuana between third ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (10-6) and sixth ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (8-9) on Tuesday night. Tijuana Zonkeys were defeated by Lobos UAD Mazatlan in a tough game at home 70-75. Strangely Tijuana Zonkeys outrebounded Lobos UAD Mazatlan 50-35 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Omar Thomas (196-82, college: UTEP) scored 20 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import swingman Cliff Tucker (198-89, college: Maryland) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Leon Gibson (206-91, college: Houston) with 14 points and 9 rebounds and D Dunkley scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Guasave. Tijuana Zonkeys at the other side keep the third position with six games lost. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tijuana Zonkeys will play again at home against Lobos UAD Mazatlan and are hoping to win this game.
