There was an upset when higher ranked Lille Metropole (16-13) lost at home to sixteenth ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (11-18) 76-64 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by SO Maritime Boulogne. Lille Metropole was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Lille Metropole 43-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. American guard Teddy Gipson (191-80, college: Arkansas) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Alexandre Moisy (175-95) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Naturalized Burkinabe Jean-Victor Traore (204-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists and Bulgarian Pavel Marinov (199-88, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points and 6 assists in the effort for Lille Metropole. SO Maritime Boulogne moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Lille Metropole lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with 13 games lost. SO Maritime Boulogne will face higher ranked Boulazac Basket (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lille Metropole will play against Chorale de Roanne and hope to win that game.
