Regular Season Round 19: Guaymas - Obregon 88-89

Important game to mention about took place in Guaymas. Second ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (13-5) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Ostioneros de Guaymas (10-8) 89-88 on Wednesday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-17. But Ostioneros de Guaymas won second period 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon made 25-of-33 charity shots (75.8 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Michael Glover (203-87, college: Iona) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds. Puerto Rican point guard Nick Leon (181-88, college: St.Peter's) contributed with 24 points and 6 assists for the winners. American guard Brandon Provost (190-90, college: UTRGV) answered with 35 points (!!!) (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field) and American-Bahrain swingman Rashad Woods (197-86, college: Kent St.) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Ostioneros de Guaymas. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-5 record having just three points less than leader Hermosillo. Ostioneros de Guaymas lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#6) at home in the next round. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play against the league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo and hope to get back on the winning track.
