An interesting game where host Garra Canera de Navolato (#8) won against 5th ranked Frayles de Guasave 97-87 on Wednesday evening. Garra Canera de Navolato dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Frayles de Guasave's 34. They outrebounded Frayles de Guasave 33-20 including 26 on the defensive glass. Garra Canera de Navolato looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Frayles de Guasave's players. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 9 rebounds and 13 assists. Four Garra Canera de Navolato and five Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. Garra Canera de Navolato (7-11) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Los Mochis. Loser Frayles de Guasave keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with Mazatlan. Garra Canera de Navolato will meet bottom-ranked Aguilas Doradas de Durango (#10) on the road in the next round. Frayles de Guasave will play against Tijuana Zonkeys (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
