Regular Season Round 29: Maccabi Rishon - Galil Gilboa 83-69

There was no surprise in Rishon Le-Zion where 11th ranked Galil Gilboa (12-17) was defeated by seventh ranked Maccabi Rishon (15-14) 83-69. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Rishon. Galil Gilboa was better in third quarter 24-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Rishon forced 23 Galil Gilboa turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American guard Cameron Long (193-88, college: George Mason, agency: Inception Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and international power forward Idan Zalmanson (206-95) accounted for 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Maccabi Rishon's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Eric Griffin (203-90, college: Campbell) came up with 18 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Michael Qualls (197-94, college: Arkansas) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Galil Gilboa in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Maccabi Rishon. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ironi Nahariya and Maccabi Haifa. Newly promoted Galil Gilboa dropped to the tenth position with 17 games lost. Maccabi Rishon's next round opponent will be Maccabi Ashdod (#10) on the road. Galil Gilboa will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
