There was no surprise when 10th ranked Liege Basket (5-28) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (16-17) 83-76 on Friday. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Tre Demps (188-93, college: Northwestern) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and swingman Garlon Green (201-91, college: TCU) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was swingman Devin Sweetney (198-87, college: St.Francis, PA) with 17 points and 6 rebounds and power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Belfius Mons-Hainaut. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Spirou. Liege Basket lost their seventeenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 28 lost games. Belfius Mons-Hainaut will meet at home higher ranked Okapi Aalstar (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Liege Basket will play against Kangoeroes (#6) in Willebroek and hope to secure a win.
