Regular Season Round 1: Penarol - Lanus 45-75

Date: April 29, 2017
The game between Top Four teams took place in Mar del Plata. host Penarol (0-1) was smashed by Lanus (2-0) 75-45. The game without a history. Lanus led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Penarol to just 5 points in second quarter and to 14 points in first half. Lanus dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Penarol's 24. Lanus forced 25 Penarol turnovers and outrebounded them 43-27 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Florencia Llorente (180-94) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). International power forward Agostina Burani (184-91) contributed with 8 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Kama Griffitts (183-91, college: Arizona) answered with 12 points and forward Celeste Selent (177-83) added 4 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Penarol. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lanus' next round opponent will be Rocamora (#3), which may be the game of the day. Penarol will play against Estrella Berisso and hope to win that game.
