Regular Season Round 9: Joondalup Wolves - Mandurah M. 95-81

Date: April 29, 2017
There was no surprise in Joondalup where bottom-ranked Magic (0-7) was defeated by third ranked Wanneroo (6-1) 95-81 on Saturday. Wanneroo made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Wanneroo made 8 blocks. American forward Richard Ross (198-92, college: ODU) stepped up and scored 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Greek guard Trian Iliadis (190-89, college: ODU) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Wanneroo players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Taylor Mullenax (200-86, college: St.Edward's) with 28 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Will McNeill (185-90, college: Washburn) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Wanneroo went down to fourth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Magic still closes the standings with seven games lost. Wanneroo will face Stirling S. (#7) in Perth in the next round. Magic will play on the road against Eagles (#6) in Morley and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
