Regular Season Round 58: SeaHorses - Osaka Evessa 68-70

Date: April 29, 2017
Important game to mention about took place in Kariya. Second ranked Osaka Evessa (28-28) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging top-ranked Aishin Sea Horses (44-12) 70-68 on Saturday evening. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. American power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) notched 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) supported him with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Even a double-double of 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists by the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) did not help to save the game for Aishin Sea Horses. The former international swingman Makoto Hiejima (190-90) added 10 points and 7 assists for lost side. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Osaka Evessa maintains second position with 28-28 record having sixteen points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Tochigi Brex. Osaka Evessa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aishin Sea Horses will play again at home against the league's second-placed Osaka Evessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
