Rather expected game in Broadmeadow where 10th ranked Newcastle Hunters (2-7) were crushed by seventh ranked Crusaders (3-5) 87-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Crusaders. Newcastle Hunters was better in fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Newcastle Hunters 56-35 including a 41-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Mitchell Rueter (198, college: Cent.Arkansas) stepped up and scored 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and forward Callum Jenkins chipped in 14 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American swingman Dane Suttle (198-89, college: Pepperdine) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and Jacob Foy scored 12 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Crusaders went down to eighth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Newcastle Hunters keep the tenth place with seven games lost. Crusaders will face higher ranked Spiders (#3) in Hornsby in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Newcastle Hunters will play at home against Norths Soul Sports Bears (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
