Not a big story in a game in Athens where 6th ranked Ethnikos (15-14) was defeated by third ranked Doukas (24-4) 82-71. Doukas outrebounded Ethnikos 40-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The former international guard Emmanouil Papamakarios (192-80) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Alexis Kiritsis (198-82) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Estonian point guard Rait-Riivo Laane (179-93) answered with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Paraskeva Martzos (197-85) added 16 points in the effort for Ethnikos. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Doukas. They maintain third place with 24-4 record behind leader Panionios. Ethnikos at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 14 games lost. Doukas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panionios.
