Second Stage Round 14: Basket Esch - Kordall Steelers 101-76

The game between Top Four teams took place in Esch. First ranked host Basket Esch (18-13) smashed one of their biggest challengers Kordall Steelers (17-14) 101-76. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Basket Esch forced 21 Kordall Steelers turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Kordall Steelers' players. Ben Kovac (190-0) notched 24 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward Bill Clark (196-88, college: Duquesne) supported him with 6 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Basket Esch's coach Franck Meriguet felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 40 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds by American forward Marlin Mason (201-93, college: Cleveland St.) did not help to save the game for Kordall Steelers. His fellow American import forward Antonio Bivins (198-92, college: Mass.-Lowell) added 22 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Basket Esch maintains first position with 18-13 record. Newly promoted Kordall Steelers keeps the third place with 14 games lost. Basket Esch will play against Bascharage (#4) in Kaerjeng in the next round. Kordall Steelers will play at home against BC Mess and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
