Regular Season Round 59: Akita NH - Hokkaido L. 79-75

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Akita Happinets (18-39) defeated at home 4th placed Hokkaido L. (22-35) 79-75 on Sunday. Strangely Hokkaido L. outrebounded Akita Happinets 33-18 including 23 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Seiya Ando (184-92) who scored 9 points and 8 assists. International guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) chipped in 15 points. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. The former international forward Daisuke Noguchi (196-83) produced 23 points and Canadian center Jordan Bachynski (218-89, college: Arizona St.) added 12 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Akita Happinets maintains fifth place with 18-39 record, which they share with Shiga L-Stars. Loser Hokkaido L. keeps the fourth position with 35 games lost. Akita Happinets will face higher ranked Chiba Jets (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hokkaido L. will play against Sendai 89ers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
