Regular Season Round 59: Shiga L-Stars - Nagoya DD 92-83
Date: April 30, 2017
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Diamond Dolphins (24-33) were defeated on the road by sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (18-39) 92-83 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) who had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Shiga L-Stars. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Akita NH. Loser Diamond Dolphins keep the fifth position with 33 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face league's second-placed Osaka Evessa on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Diamond Dolphins will play against Ryukyu GK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
