Everything went according to plan in Greensborough where third ranked Ringwood Hawks (6-2) beat 10th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (1-7) 92-88 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-88. Ringwood Hawks made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Diamond Valley Eagles turnovers. Diamond Valley Eagles were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Jacob Gibson (198-93, college: Harding) stepped up and scored 29 points for the winners and his fellow American import forward Mike McCahey (196, college: St.Anselm) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Matt Reynolds (183) with 31 points and American forward Brandon Conley (198, college: ORU) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Diamond Valley Eagles' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ringwood Hawks moved-up to second place in League. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. Ringwood Hawks will face Whittlesea City (#11) in Mill Park in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Diamond Valley Eagles will play on the road against Stingrays in Geelong and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
