Regular Season Round 9: Brusque - Botafogo F.R. 73-75

Sixth-ranked Brusque (1-15) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Botafogo F.R. (13-4). The visitors from Rio de Janeiro managed to secure only two-point victory 75-73. However their fans expected much easier game. Botafogo F.R. dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Brusque's 28. Botafogo F.R. forced 20 Brusque turnovers. Power forward Douglas Correa (202-91) stepped up and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and power forward Roberto Ferreira (196-79, college: SUNO) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was swingman Durval Prado (200-92) with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Guilherme Machado (175-86) scored 12 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Botafogo F.R. maintains second place with 13-4 record having just one point less than leader Contagem. Brusque at the other side stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Botafogo F.R. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Brusque will play against Santos/Macapa (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
