Regular Season Round 30: Maccabi T-A - Ironi Nahariya 64-77

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Maccabi T-A (18-12) against seventh ranked Ironi Nahariya (16-14) on Wednesday night. Host Maccabi T-A was defeated by Ironi Nahariya in Tel-Aviv 77-64. The game was mostly controlled by Ironi Nahariya. Maccabi T-A was better in third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American Tyrone Nash (203-88, college: Notre Dame) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Derwin Kitchen (194-86, college: Florida St.) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Gal Mekel (190-88, college: Wichita St., agency: BeoBasket) with 13 points and American swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) scored 11 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ironi Nahariya have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hapoel J-M and Maccabi Rishon. Maccabi T-A at the other side keeps the third position with 12 games lost. Ironi Nahariya will play against league's second-placed Hapoel Holon at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Maccabi T-A will play against Maccabi Rishon in Rishon Le-Zion and hopes to get back on the winning track.
