Regular Season Round 8: Logan T. - Toowoomba M. 99-54

Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Mountaineers (0-3) were outscored by thirteenth ranked Logan Thunder (1-1) in Loganholme 99-54 on Friday. The game without a history. Logan Thunder led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Mountaineers to just 4 points in third quarter. Logan Thunder dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Mountaineers' 28. Logan Thunder forced 19 Mountaineers turnovers and outrebounded them 44-31 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Kate Gaze (173-90, college: St.Mary's, CA) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 5 steals. Swingman Miela Goodchild (175-0) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Four Logan Thunder players scored in double figures. American forward Ezria Parsons (183-83, college: S.Florida) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and Tracey Russell added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Mountaineers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Logan Thunder left bottom position moving up to seventh place in League. Loser Mountaineers still closes the standings with three games lost. Logan Thunder will face SC Rip (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. Mountaineers will play against Cyclones and look forward to get finally their first victory.
