Regular Season Round 8: Stirling S. - Joondalup W. 69-68

Seventh-ranked Wanneroo (3-5) was very close to win a game against third ranked Senators (8-2) in Leederville on Friday. Senators managed to secure only one-point victory 69-68. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 22-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Senators made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. American guard Jasmine Martin (170-93, college: Quinnipiac) saved the victory by scoring 27 points. The other American import forward Kisha Lee (182-85, college: UNLV) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Klara Wischer (185-91, college: San Diego) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals and power forward Ellyce Ironmonger (193-89, college: Oregon) added 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Wanneroo. Four Wanneroo players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Senators moved-up to second place in League. Loser Wanneroo dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Senators will face Lightning (#6) in Bullcreek in the next round. Wanneroo will play on the road against Suns in Kalamunda and hope to win that game.
