There was no surprise in Kanagawa where 3rd placed Hitachi Sunrockers (32-28) were defeated by first ranked Toshiba Thunders (49-11) 93-86 on Friday. Toshiba Thunders made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 20 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Ryan Spangler (203-91, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 14 points. Five Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. At the losing side Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) responded with 27 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Toshiba Thunders. They maintain first place with 49-11 record. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers keep the third position with 28 games lost.
