There was no surprise in Northbridge where 12th ranked Flames (2-8) were defeated by second ranked Redbacks (8-2) 90-73 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Redbacks. Flames was better in second period 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international forward Shawn Redhage (203-81, college: Arizona St.) fired a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Benjamin Smith (192-89) chipped in 23 points. American forward Donovon Jack (206-93, college: Penn St.) produced 26 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Vincent Zollo (206-92, college: Cleveland St.) added 20 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Redbacks maintains second position in League with 8-2 record having just one point less than leader Sydney Comets. Loser Flames dropped to the thirteenth place with eight games lost. Redbacks will face Buccaneers (#3) in Wonthella in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Flames will play on the road against Magic (#14) in Mandurah and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
