Regular Season Round 61: Akita NH - Toyota Alvark 80-83

Fifth-ranked Akita Happinets (18-41) gave a tough game to second ranked Toyota Alvark (43-16). The visitors from Tokyo managed to secure only three-point victory 83-80. However their fans expected easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: Arizona St.) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American power forward Evan Ravenel (203-89, college: Ohio St.) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Akita Happinets. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Toyota Alvark maintains second place with 43-16 record having seven points less than leader Tochigi Brex, which they share with Chiba Jets. Akita Happinets at the other side keep the fifth position with 41 games lost. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round. Akita Happinets will play again at home against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark (#2) and hope to win that game.
