Regular Season Round 8: Eastern M. - Woodville W. 87-77

The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Mavericks as it allowed them to take a leadership position in League. Mavericks defeated 7th ranked Warriors in Mt. Barker 87-77. Mavericks dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Warriors' 42. Mavericks forced 20 Warriors turnovers. Strangely Warriors outrebounded Mavericks 53-37 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Guard Alex Wilson (174-94) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks. Brooke Basham contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Mavericks' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Jennifer Monroe (180, college: Anderson, SC) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 24 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Ashley Claussen (168, college: S.Oregon) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Warriors. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Warriors at the other side dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
