There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Rockhampton Rockets (1-1) won against at home bottom-ranked Gladstone Port City Power (0-1) 88-72 on Saturday. Swingman James Mitchell (195-91) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Canadian forward David Wagner (206-92, college: UBC) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. Five Rockhampton Rockets players scored in double figures. American forward Willie Shackleford (198-85, college: Martin Methodist) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Ray Willis (198-89, college: N.C.Central, agency: HMS) added 18 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Rockhampton Rockets left bottom position moving up to seventh place in League. Loser Gladstone Port City Power still closes the standings with one game lost. Rockhampton Rockets will face higher ranked Ipswich Force (#3) in Booval in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
