There was a minor upset in Bunbury where 8th ranked Hawks (4-5) were defeated by tenth ranked Slammers (4-4) 82-69 on Saturday. Slammers looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (198-92, college: Vermont, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) fired a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists and 6 steals for the winners. American guard Tre Nichols (180-89, college: Boise St., agency: SDJ Sports) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Matthew Adekponya (194-90) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Robert Waters (185-93, college: Wayland Baptist) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Slammers moved-up to ninth place in League. Loser Hawks dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Slammers will face higher ranked Cougars (#7) in Hamilton Hill in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hawks will play on the road against Eagles in Morley and hope to win that game.
