Regular Season Round 61: SeaHorses - Shiga L-Stars 65-80

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Aishin Sea Horses (46-13) in Kariya on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (20-39) 80-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aishin Sea Horses. They outrebounded Aishin Sea Horses 43-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 18 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side the former international swingman Makoto Hiejima (190-90) responded with 16 points and guard Masaaki Morikawa (190) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shiga L-Stars have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 20-39 record. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top position with 13 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aishin Sea Horses will play again at home against Shiga L-Stars and are hoping to win this game.
