There was no surprise in Wendouree where 5th ranked Bandits (4-4) were defeated by third ranked Ballarat Miners (5-2) 102-92 on Saturday. Ballarat Miners made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Bandits turnovers. Guard Peter Hooley (193-92, college: Albany) fired 44 points (!!!) and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Marvin King-Davis (201-93, college: Delaware) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). New Zealand forward Mitchell Newton (200-95) produced a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Deba George (183-85) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Four Bandits players scored in double figures. Ballarat Miners moved-up to second place in League. Loser Bandits keep the fifth position with four games lost. Ballarat Miners will face league's leader Spectres in East Burwood in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bandits will play at home against Dandenong Rangers (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
