Regular Season Round 31: Boulazac - Rouen 78-68

There was no surprise when 10th ranked SPO Rouen (15-16) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Boulazac Basket (17-14) 78-68. It looked good early as SPO Rouen took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Boulazac Basket had a 20-12 second period charge getting the lead and SPO Rouen was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-78. They outrebounded SPO Rouen 38-23 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by SPO Rouen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Jarvis Williams (198-93, college: Murray St.) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Naturalized Central African power forward Maxime Zianveni (198-79) accounted for 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Five Boulazac Basket players scored in double figures. Boulazac Basket's coach Antoine Michon allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Steeve Ho-You-Fat (202-88) came up with 23 points and American guard James Woodard (191-94, college: Tulsa) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for SPO Rouen in the defeat. Boulazac Basket moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Poitiers. SPO Rouen at the other side keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. Boulazac Basket's next round opponent will be Saint-Quentin (#14) at home and are hoping to win another game. SPO Rouen will play against ALM Evreux (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
